Aminex in Tanzania

Aminex is operating three licenses in Tanzania through its 100% owned subsidiary Ndovu Resources Limited. The licenses are: Kiliwani North License, Ruvuma [productions sharing agreement (PSA)] and Nyuni Area PSA. PDS.[4]

Kiliwani North License

The Kiliwani North gas project is owned by Aminex for 56% and began production in April 2016. The project is estimated to produce 20 to 30mln cubic feet of gas per day initially. The gas is transported from Songo Songo by pipeline to Dar es Salaam.[5]

Ruvuma license

The Ruvuma production sharing agreement is currently in the stage of appraisal and development. In 2012 the Notrya-1 well was drilled and tested at 20mmcf per day. Ntorya-2 is situated 1,500m south west of the first discovery and was drilled in 2016. Aminex is holding a 75% working interest of the Ruvuma PSA.[6] In August 2018, Aminex announced that it is preparing for the drilling of a third well, the Chikumbi-1 (previously Ntorya-2) in the Ntorya gas field. The well is intended to be drilled in a significantly thicker section of the reservoir system and is also intended to evaluate a deeper exploration target. [7] Aminex announced a tender for the drilling operation of Chikumbi-1 and received numerous bids which are currently evaluated. If successful, the well is expected to be produced into the existing Madimba Gas Processing Plant and ultimately integrated into a full field development program. [8] In July 2018, Aminex announced that it signed a binding farm-out agreement with the Zubair Cooperation. Zubair is currently formatting ARA Petroleum Tanzania and is planning to assign its interest in the farm-out to the company which will be an affiliate of Eclipse Investments, the Company's largest shareholder. The farm out is intended to accelerate the development of the Ntorya project. [9] ARA Petroleum Tanzania will acquire a 50% working interest in the Ruvuma PSA and become the operator of the PSA. The company will therefore be responsible for the drilling and testing of Chikumbi-1, the acquisition, processing and interpretation of 3D seismic of the area and the establishment of an early production system to accelerate the gas production. [10] According to report, ARA Petroleum Tanzania will pay USD 5 million cash in two tranches, $3 million payable on closing and the remaining $2 million 180 days later to Aminex. Aminex will remain an interest of 25% post-transaction. [11] Aminex’s shares skyrocketed over 40% after confirming that it signed the farm-out agreement.[12] Commercial production from Ntorya is expected by early 2020, with a net profit of USD 12.5 million for that year.[13] In November 2018, Aminex announced that it had agreed to extend the completion date for the Ruvuma farm-out until the end of March.[14]
