Azerbaijani Ministry of Industry and Energy

The Ministry of Industry and Energy (MIE) is the central executive authority implementing state policy and regulation for the energy sector. The MIE implements regulatory policy, alongside the Ministry of Economic Development (MED).

The MIE has a Board, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. Its responsibilities do not extend to tariff regulation, which is the responsibility of energy regulator the Tariff Council.[1] The Ministry is also responsible for the implementation of the the State Programme for the Usage of Renewable and Alternative energy resources, with the goal of increasing the efficiency of the uses of energy sources in Azerbaijan.[2]

As of March 2013, the Ministry was headed by Minister Natig Aliyev.[3]
