Dodsal in Tanzania

Introduction

The Dodsal Group was founded as a trading company in 1948 in Mumbai, India. Over the years, the group transformed into a multinational conglomerate with headquaters in Dubai. Dodsal operates in the areas trading and distribution; engineering, procurement and construction; and exploration and construction.[1]

Dodsal in Tanzania

Dodsal Resources FZCO, is the holding company for Dodsal Group’s Hydrocarbon Exploration, Mining and Production activites. It fullly owns the subisdiary Dodsal Hydrocarbons and Power (Tanzania) Pvt. Ltd. through which the group conducts its activities in the oil and gas sector in Tanzania. On October 23, 2007 Dodsal signed the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) with the Government of Tanzania and acquired possession of the Ruvu Basin onshore Oil and Gas concession 30kms west of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. The same year exploration of the concession began.[2] In 2016 the company annouced the finding of 2.7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas deposits with a value of $8 billion USD. Dodsal described the discovery as the biggest onshore gas discovery in Tanzania. [3] The same year, Dodsal announced that it found a large gas column estimated to contain up to 5.9 TCF of natural gas. [4] Dodsal has already spent $200 million on the project and plans a further $300 million of investments in the coming years to upgrade its exploration and production capabilities. [5] In addtion to the activities in the hydrocarbon sector Dodsal is holding three mining concessions in Tanzania. In 2007, Dodsal acquired the Itingi and Itilima concessions and in 2014, the Busilili concession. All concessions show potential for gold and other metals.[6]
