Partner states of the East African Community (EAC) - Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi - have exchanged data and information pertaining to their respective petroleum sectors, according to the Ugandan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. One of the most important exercises that have taken place under the auspices of the Energy Committee of the EAC has been the effort to harmonize the policies, the legal and fiscal frameworks for the oil sectors of community member countries. For nearly three years, a task force identified a large number of areas which needed harmonisation to make joint promotion and the development of the oil industry in the region possible.[1]
