Incorporated in 1921 and based in Colorado, Newmont Mining Corporation acquires, explores, and develops mineral properties.[1] As of 31 December 2010, Newmont had proven and probable gold reserves of 93.5 million attributable ounces, copper reserves of 9.4 billion attributable pounds and an aggregate land position of approximately 71,118 square kilometres (km).[1] The company produces gold from operations in the United States, Australia, Peru, Indonesia, Ghana, Canada, New Zealand and Mexico, as well as mining and processing copper in Indonesia.[2]
