The Nigerien Ministry of Energy and Oil was created in September 2011, as President Issoufou prepared Niger to enter into oil production.[1] As of March 2012 Foumakoye Gado was the Minister of Energy and Oil.[2] Since Niger began producing oil in November 2011, the Ministry of Energy and Oil have granted responsibility for the marketing of Niger's petroleum products to Société Nigerienne de Produits Petroliers (SONIDEP).[3]
