The Nigerien Ministry of Mines and Industrial Development was created in September 2011, replacing the Ministry of Mines and Energy.[1] Mr Omar Hamidou Tchiana was appointed the Minister of Mines and Industrial Development in September 2011.[2] The ministry has a stake in a number of joint ventures through its mining assets company Société du Patrimoine des Mines du Niger (SOPAMIN).[3]
