THe Syrian Company for the Storage and Distribution of Petroleum Production (Mahrukat) is the Damascus-based state-owned distributor.[1]

The Syrian Company of Oil Transportation (SCOT) was established in 1972.[2]

Sytrol is the state's sole marketer of oil and reports to the Prime Ministers's Office rather than directly to the Oil Ministry as other para-statal companies do.[3]

The company was places on a US sanctions black list in the summer of 2011 and was also black listed by the European Union in December 2011.[1]
