Weatherford International Operations in Ghana
Weatherford International's Ghana operations are headquartered in Takoradi and the company was contracted to work on pre-commissioning and commissioning services on the offshore Jubilee Field Development project.
In 2011 Weatherford Ghana Ltd was the source of some controversy when some workers were locked out of the company for demanding better working conditions. However the workers resumed work on the 29 November 2011 following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) addressing their grievances. The workers had also alleged that the company had discriminated against them and given preferential treatment to the 38 expatriate staff, an accusation refuted by Weatherford.
